Winter Fun

Hello again. Sorry that I haven't been more consitant with this blog.

We have been very busy this winter with girl scouts and school. The girls decieded to try out for a play that was traveling through Kuna. 140 kids showed up at the audition although only 60 part were availible. They both recieved a part and we spent a week running to and from reherseals. On Saturday the girl preformed in The Amazing Adventures of Robinson Crusoe. It was so much fun and both girls did wonderful!!

This week we are getting ready for the World Winter Special Olympics. Our girl scout troops will be welcoming athletes as they get off the plane this Wednesday. They are all very excited. We wanted to give out medals, but the girls are too young.

I put some other pictures up that I thought people might enjoy (specifically the geologists in the family). This cave is known as The Kuna Kave and our mascot is the Kuna Kavemen. During the Idaho gold rush local indians would hide from the army and settlers in this cave. It is a lava tube that originally ran for miles. The Army Core blasted in part of the tube years ago. Now it only goes back a short distance. Danner was not ready to climb down the ladder and I was more then happy to stay uptop with him.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!! We had a great holiday here!!!!

The kids all got what they asked for from Santa. Kaylynn a new bunny named Dusty. Aspynn got an autographed pictured of her elf pen pal Hunter. Danner got a talking Transformer. It was a great day. We gave the kids Rockband so we have all been jammin' out!

Yesterday was the first day in weeks that there was no snow in the forcast. We took advantage of the nice weather and drove to Twin Falls ID. Dennis shot a huge buck this year, and we wanted to enter it in a big buck contest. The closest one we could find was in Twin. The sporting good store hosting the show is right on the Snake River Canyon. If you look close in the background you can see that launching ramp that Evil Kinevil used on his famous Wide World of Sports jump attempt.

On the way home we stopped in Hagerman ID. Home of the Idaho state fossil, the Hagerman Horse. We were able to peek in the window of the museum to see the fossil (it felt a little like seeing Mt. Rushmore). We then found some local sights, the Owsley Bridge and Park. This area is know for it geothermal pools. There are even alligator farms. We were able to see three mature alligators in a steaming pool next to a pile of snow. It looked very odd. We ended the day by suprising the kids with a trip to an indoor hot spring pool. It was a wonderful minivacation.

I hope that everyone is having a great holiday season. I just saw pictures of Post Falls covered in snow. It makes me very thankful for the little snow that we have here. We have enough for the kids to go sledding but in town it's only a few inches deep. We are forcasted to get 6-8 inches by morning. I hope the kids don't have a snow day, we still have to give presents to their teachers.
I've been busy baking and preparing for the holidays. My preschool class just had a christmas musical. It was hard work teaching 35 kids age 4-6 a muscial! They pulled it off like shining stars. Then the girls (their daycare class as well) preformed a island christmas song to warm us up. The only draw back to the musical was being backstage when Danners class preformed. Dennis was able to watch and said he did well, he wasn't playing with the sound equipment so it was better the the last preformace Danner was in.

It was an unusually warm November day so we took advantage of the weather and went geo-caching at one of our favorite places, Celebration Park. The kids have a blast finding treasure and Celebartion Park is a cool archaeological site on the Snake River. The rocks are covered in petroglyphs pecked away thousands of years ago. Hope you enjoy the pictures. They include the newest member of our family, Alli a chocolate lab, and Lexi the girls good friend.
Hello everyone! Aspynn once told me she was my 'extreme child'. I quess it should be no suprise she is the first (hopefully last) to break a bone.
